Setting your ringtone

You have downloaded your ringtone to your phone. How do you set your ringtone? Depending on the model of phone you have, there are specific instructions below.

iPhone

Go into the phone settings (settings>sounds>ringtones) and select your new ringtone. See diagram below.

Android

Locate your ringtone. It can either be found in your “downloads” or “ringtones” folder. (If it’s not showing up in any folder, you may need to find it in your media player)

Option 1:

  1. Play the ringtone, then press "Menu"
  2. Select “Use as ringtone”

Option 2:

  1. Press and hold ( 3+ sec.) on ringtone until Options menu pops up
  2. Select “Use as phone ringtone”

Menu Button Locations

The "Menu" button is located in different locations on different Android powered phones:

Blackberry

BlackBerry (Typical)

  1. Open the message and click the download link. It will ask:
  2. Select ‘Save’.
  3. Next, it will allow you to rename the file, after you do so, check the ‘Set as Ringtone’ box.
    *You may need to scroll down to see this option.

BlackBerry (Alternative)

  1. Select ‘Save’
  2. Go to the main menu list
  3. Select Media -> Ringtones -> My Ringtones
  4. Select your personalized ringtone from the list of ringtones and click on ‘Options’.
  5. Select ‘Set As Ringtone’.

BlackBerry (Non-Verizon)

  1. Open 'Messages' from the main menu
  2. Highlight the link and confirm
  3. Select 'Get Link'
  4. Ringtone will now download
  5. Ringtone will play after download has finished
  6. Select 'Menu'
  7. Select 'Save'
  8. Check the box 'Save as ringtone'

BlackBerry Curve (Verizon)

  1. Once you have downloaded a ringtone, please do the following:
  2. Select "Media" from the menu list
  3. Go to "Ringtones" > "My Ringtones"
  4. Select the desire ringtone and press "Options"
  5. Select "Set As Ringtone"

Windows Phone

  1. On the Home Screen, open the Start Menu and navigate to Settings:
  2. In the Settings menu, select Sounds. The first drop-down menu should contain your currently-selected ringtone. Open the drop-down menu and you should see your new ringtone:
  3. Select the new ringtone, tap Done and Done again. Your new MP3 ringtone is now ready for your first incoming call.

Other Types of Phones

Feature Phone (Typical)

  1. Find your ringtone. Depending on device, the folder your ringtone is located may be labeled differently. Generally it’s in a folder called: “sounds” or “music” within the “My Stuff”/”Media” Category.
  2. Play/Open your ringtone. Once found, simply play ringtone.
  3. Hit Options or Menu. This should open a list of options, one of which should allow you to set as ringtone.

Nokia (Non-Verizon)

  1. After the Text Message arrives in your inbox, select open/show text message
  2. You should now see the link to the ringtone
  3. Select Options
  4. Select Use Detail
  5. Select Web Address
  6. Select 'Go To'
  7. You internet browser will open and download will start
  8. Ringtones will go to your 'Tones' folder
  9. Select options
  10. Select set as ringtone

Motorola (Non-Verizon)

  1. Open Text Message with link
  2. Open message menu
  3. Select 'Go To'
  4. Browser will launch and download starts
  5. After the download is complete, the tune may start to play
  6. Select 'Store'
  7. Apply as ringtone

Samsung (Non-Verizon)

  1. After Text Message arrives, select 'Options'
  2. Select 'Go'
  3. Browser opens and download begins
  4. When download is complete, select 'set as ringtone'

LG (Non-Verizon)

  1. Select 'Options' after Text Message arrives
  2. Select 'Extract Data'
  3. You will see SMS/Text Message info
  4. Highlight the link at the bottom and select 'Connect'
  5. The ringtone or wallpaper will download
  6. Set as ringtone or play tune after the download has finished

Sony Ericsson (Non-Verizon)

  1. Select 'Read Now'
  2. Highlight link and select 'Open' (The 'Open' option will only appear if the link has been highlighted.
  3. The browser opens and the download begins
  4. Ringtone will auto save in the 'Sounds' folder
  5. Select 'Use Now'
  6. Select 'Set As Ringtone'

Sanyo (Non-Verizon)

  1. Open Text Message
  2. Highlight the link
  3. Select 'Go'
  4. Browser opens and ringtone will download
  5. Select 'Set As Ringtones' from the menu

Kyocera (Verizon)

  1. Ringtone will arrive as MMS (SMS with attachment)
  2. You will see "new pix message received"
  3. Select 'View Now' and song will play
  4. Select 'Options' and save as ringtone

Samsung (Verizon)

  1. Open the text message (The ringtone may start to play)
  2. Press "Option"
  3. Select "Save Ringtone". If "Save Ringtone" is not available, please select "Save Sound"
  4. If you selected 'Save Sound', please continue with the steps below:
  5. Press "Menu"
  6. Scroll to "Get it Now"
  7. Select "Music and Tones"
  8. Select the ringtone you have downloaded (The ringtone file may be stored in "My Sounds" or "My Ringtones")
  9. Press "Options"
  10. Select "Set As Ringtone"

Motorola (Verizon)

  1. Open the text message (The ringtone may start to play)
  2. Press "Option"
  3. Select "Save Ringtone". If "Save Ringtone" is not available, please select "Save Sound"
  4. If you selected 'Save Sound', please continue with the steps below:
  5. Press "Menu"
  6. Scroll to "Get it Now"
  7. Select "Tunes and Tones"
  8. Select the ringtone you have downloaded (The ringtone file may be stored in "My Sounds" or "My Ringtones")
  9. Press "Options"
  10. Select "Set As"

LG (Verizon)

  1. Open the text message (The ringtone may start to play)
  2. Press "Option"
  3. Select "Save Ringtone". If "Save Ringtone" is not available, please select "Save Sound" (You will have the option of re-naming the ringtone prior to pressing "OK") Press "OK" Some LG phones do not allow users to set the ringtone at this stage. If you do not have the option to save the file as a ringtone, please continue with the steps below:
  4. Press "Menu"
  5. Select "Settings and Tools"
  6. Select one of the ring options and then select the ringtone of your choice for that option
